Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has partnered with GCash to offer Filipinos a one-stop service: applying for a national ID and opening a GCash account simultaneously. Through the PhilSys-On-Wheels program, this co-location strategy is being rolled out to underserved communities nationwide, bringing essential services closer to those who need them most.
The initiative is designed to streamline access to both identity and financial tools, key foundations for full participation in today’s digital economy. As explained by National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, the joint effort “aims to make financial services more accessible for Filipinos” by integrating government identification and fintech solutions in a single visit.
Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista of the PSA further emphasized the potential benefits: “These services will help Filipinos gain better access to formal financial services for savings, payments, and even loans, all through the GCash platform.”
GCash, through its parent company G-Xchange Inc., sees the collaboration as part of its ongoing mission to promote financial inclusion. “This co-location initiative with PSA aligns with our shared goal of extending financial services to underserved communities,” said G-Xchange Inc. President and CEO Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr. “It provides an accessible venue to register for a national ID and open a GCash account at the same time.”
The partnership is supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and is expected to serve as a model for future collaborations between government and private sector institutions supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Through this initiative, more Filipinos—particularly those in remote or underserved areas—can now take a significant step toward building their financial identity and unlocking broader opportunities in the digital economy.
