Watsons Philippines has partnered with Diabetes Philippines, Inc. (DPI) to roll out a transformative health initiative focused on awareness, early detection, and accessible chronic care.
With 4.7 million Filipinos currently living with diabetes and millions more at risk, this collaboration aims to equip Watsons stores nationwide as accessible health support hubs—especially for those managing or vulnerable to the lifelong condition.
The partnership was formalized during a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing at Lanson Place Mall of Asia, attended by key leaders from both organizations. Representing Watsons were Joeweeh B. Liao (Director of Health Business Unit), Maria Adelfa T. De Ramos (Sales Operations Director), and Ma. Corina M. Marte (Director for People and Organization Development). Dr. Fatma Tiu, President of DPI, led her team alongside Dr. Reynaldo Rosales, Dr. Luinio Tongson, and Ms. Leyden Florido.
“This collaboration brings us closer to making quality healthcare more accessible to every Filipino,” said Joeweeh Liao. “Our pharmacists will soon play a more active role—not just in dispensing medicine but in delivering care.”
Under the initiative, Watsons pharmacists will receive specialized training from DPI, expanding their role from traditional dispensers to consultative health partners capable of identifying diabetes symptoms, supporting medication adherence, and advising on long-term disease management.
“Education and early intervention are key,” emphasized Dr. Fatma Tiu, DPI President. “Pharmacists are often the first point of contact in our health system, and this collaboration helps them become powerful allies in diabetes care.”
The initiative supports Watsons’ broader brand promise to “Look Good, Do Good, Feel Great,” while reinforcing its status as a trusted destination for health, wellness, and beauty.
“Our pharmacy teams are now more than service providers—they’re health partners,” said Ma. Corina Marte. “It’s about helping people live longer, healthier lives.”
“Watsons isn’t just a place to shop—it’s where good health begins,” added Maria Adelfa T. De Ramos, emphasizing how everyday store visits can become opportunities for health empowerment.
Timed with National Diabetes Awareness Month this July, the initiative serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of community-level healthcare solutions. It also affirms Watsons’ ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Filipinos—one customer, one community at a time.
