The Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL), under the leadership of President Jean Henri Lhuillier, is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the four Philippine squads heading to four different World Cup competitions in 2023 are fully prepared to emerge victorious. Following their recent success at the Men’s Softball Asia Cup 2023, where the RP Blu Boys clinched the bronze medal against Hong Kong, their spot in the upcoming World Cup was secured.
The first Philippine squad to step into the World Cup arena will be the RP Blu Girls, who are set to compete in the 18th WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup. The prestigious tournament will be held in Dublin from July 11 to 26, and the RP Blu Girls are determined to make their mark on the global stage.
Notably, the under-15 girls’ team has also secured a spot in the WBSC World Cup U15 Women Softball 2023 after their victory over Team Korea and winning the bronze medal. This achievement highlights the depth of talent and dedication within the Philippine softball community.
Adding to the excitement, the ASAPHIL-trained Co-ed players are currently engaged in intensive training for the WBSC Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball World Cup, scheduled to take place later this year. Their outstanding performance, resulting in a silver medal finish at the Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball Asia Cup in May, has fueled their determination to succeed on the world stage.
President Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his admiration for the numerous victories achieved by Team Philippines, stating, “This has been such a tremendous year for our athletes who have showed true grit and determination, and we take immense pride in being able to support each and every one of them. We hope the efforts of our boys and girls will generate increased public support from the Filipino community for our softball program and give the sport the national recognition it rightfully deserves.”
Lhuillier’s words underscore the importance of rallying behind the national teams as they compete on the international stage. The dedication and hard work demonstrated by these athletes deserve recognition and support from the entire Filipino community. The success of the Philippine softball program can serve as an inspiration for future generations and foster a greater appreciation for the sport nationwide.
As the Philippine squads gear up for their respective World Cup competitions, all eyes will be on the RP Blu Girls, the under-15 girls’ team, and the Co-ed players. Their journey to represent the Philippines at the highest level of international softball is a testament to their talent, passion, and the unwavering support provided by ASAPHIL. The upcoming World Cup games hold great promise for Philippine softball, and the entire nation eagerly awaits the triumphs that lie ahead.
