for the RP Blu Girls as they fell hard against Japan during the second day of the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup at the Campo Comunale da Softball in Castrions di Strada, Italy, on Sunday (Manila time).
Despite the girls’ unwavering determination and spirit on the field, they were outscored by Japan, currently ranked Number 2 by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), as they suffered a 13-0 blow. Regardless of the loss, the team remains hopeful as they look ahead to bouncing back in their upcoming matches against Venezuela, Italy, and New Zealand.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his faith in the team’s ability to overcome the odds. “I believe that this setback will only fuel the Blu Girls’ determination and egg them to fight harder. Now that we’re done with our matches with two of the games’ strongest teams, Japan and Canada and with some tactical adjustments, the RP Blu Girls are eager to go back out and prove that they’ve got what it takes to go head-on with the world’s best teams”.
The 26th-ranked Philippine team still has three more matches, with Venezuela as their opponent on the third day of the group stage. They are expected to battle it out on July 24 at 5:00pm (Manila Time).
