SM Book Nook and the National Library of the Philippines have officially teamed up to launch a Nationwide Book Donation Drive across all SM Supermalls. This landmark partnership aims to provide greater access to books for communities in need — proving that one story can indeed change a life.

Unveiled during a special event graced by key advocates of literacy, the campaign brings together public and private sectors in a united front for education. Present at the launch were SM Supermalls Executive Vice President for Marketing Mr. Joaquin L. San Agustin, National Library of the Philippines Director Mr. Cesar Gilbert Adriano, Book Nook Pioneer Ms. Shereen T. Sy, and National Library Assistant Director Mr. Edgardo Quiros.
Together, they called on Filipinos to donate pre-loved or new books of all genres — from children’s picture books and novels to educational materials and self-help titles. These donations will help enrich the collections of public libraries and community learning hubs across the country.
“This partnership is more than a campaign; it’s a movement. Through every book given, we are sowing seeds of imagination, learning, and hope,” said Mr. Adriano.
Ms. Sy, known for her work in building safe reading spaces through Book Nook, emphasized the importance of storytelling in shaping young minds. “A single book can inspire a dream, change a perspective, or give comfort. We hope to spark that transformation, one reader at a time.”
Book donation boxes are now set up in all SM malls nationwide, making it easy for mallgoers to participate. This initiative also supports SM’s broader advocacy for education, community development, and culture-building.
So whether it’s a cherished childhood book, a novel that once stirred your soul, or an old textbook you no longer use — now is the perfect time to give it new purpose. Under the same sky, let’s share the magic of stories — one book, one reader, one future at a time.
