OWWA’s new program offers OFWs and families up to ₱20,000 worth of free medicines yearly
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families can now enjoy up to ₱20,000 worth of free medicines every year through the newly launched Alagang OWWA Botika, part of the Alagang OWWA: Yakap at Gamot program.

The initiative, in partnership with PhilHealth and VidaCure, gives both active and non-active OWWA members access to free healthcare and maintenance medicines. It aims to support OFWs and their dependents who need continuous medical care even after returning home.
Who Can Avail
The program is open to all OWWA members — active, retired, repatriated, or non-active — as long as they or their dependents have a valid PhilHealth number. This inclusive setup ensures that even those no longer working abroad can still receive medical help.
How to Get the Free Medicines
- Visit the OWWA Central Office in Pasay City. Every Friday is YAKAP Day, with free medical consultations from accredited doctors between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Consult a doctor during YAKAP Day. Patients are assessed and issued prescriptions for needed medicines.
- Claim medicines at the Alagang OWWA Botika, open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bring your prescription to receive up to ₱20,000 worth of free medicines per year.
The botika carries around 75 essential and maintenance drugs, including medications for common conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart ailments.
Extra Benefits for Active Members
Active members can also apply for or claim their OWWA eCard on-site. The eCard allows faster access to other OWWA services and benefits.
Expansion Plans Nationwide
Currently located at the OWWA Central Office in Pasay City, the Alagang OWWA Botika will soon expand to Gateway Mall, Quezon City, and Festival Mall, Alabang. OWWA is also preparing mobile medical and diagnostic clinics through the LAB for ALL program to serve OFWs and their families across the country.
Through Alagang OWWA Botika, the government reinforces its promise of care for modern-day heroes by bringing accessible and consistent healthcare support to every OFW household.
