With more than 1,400 branches and 4,400 automated teller machines (ATMs) nationwide, BDO has always been a leader in innovation and making banking accessible. This is in addition to their influential endorsers, including Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, Piolo Pascual, and many others.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, BDO has been looking for new ways to reach more Filipinos. With limitations like the ECQ, They had the chance to reap the benefits of their IT and digital banking investments as a way to enhance service delivery and increase customer accessibility.

Their methodology for incorporating innovation and technology has always been part of their corporate culture. They implements the acronym CORE, which stands for “Customer focus,” “Out-of-the-box thinking,” “Right attitude,” and “Excellent execution.” From these four values, O, or “Out-of-the-box” thinking, has a strong connection to how they pursues innovation.

By fusing technology and innovation, the bank has been able to focus on improving remote-access facilities to increase customer accessibility and decrease the need for face-to-face interactions.

But that’s not the whole story. Let’s take a look at how BDO increased its reach to Filipinos through technology and innovation in this article.

  1.  Over 4,400 ATMs Nationwide.

With more than 4,400 ATMs spread across the nation, They has always been extending its reach, even before the rise of digital banking. With the help of these ATMs, Filipinos can switch from using their personal banking accounts to conveniently withdrawing cash from the nearby streets. Furthermore, it keeps itself as accessible as possible to both current and potential customers thanks to its extended hours and weekend banking availability.

  1. BDO Network Bank

Following the pandemic, there was an increase in MSMEs, or micro, small or medium enterprise, and They established BDO Network Bank. BDONB provides financial products and services that are specifically suited to the needs of underserved and unserved communities. These products involve a loan program run by its rural banking division, BDO Network Bank, which also offers salary loans to teachers and other public servants, including the Teacher’s Loan and the Kabuhayan Loan.

  1. Cash Agad

But if digitalized banking is discussed, Cash Agad, a mobile banking app from BDO, may be the most significant digital product to date. Through the use of point-of-sale terminals installed at more than 8,000 BDO partner agents nationwide, Cash Agad enables debit and prepaid cardholders to conduct banking transactions. This significantly increases the number of locations where customers can conduct banking transactions and cash fulfillment.

  1. BDO Online Banking

As the bank invested in information technology, the BDO Digital Banking app was reborn as the BDO Online app, designed for easy and secure on-the-go banking. You can manage your accounts, monitor your finances, and carry out various types of transactions whenever and wherever you want.

With BDO Online Banking, you can:

  • View account summary (PHP Checking Accounts, PHP and USD Savings Accounts, Time Deposits, PHP Credit Cards, and Loans)
  • View transaction details (Checking and Savings Account, and Credit Cards)
  • Send Money to your own account, any other BDO account, or other banks and wallets via InstaPay using an account number or QR code
  • Schedule and manage money transfers to your own account
  • Pay Bills
  • Buy Load
  • Request Money via QR code
  1. BDO Pay

A BDO Pay Account is an account that doesn’t need an opening deposit or balance maintenance. Send payments to anyone, for any purpose, using your BDO Debit or Credit Cards. They promote BDO Pay with the tagline “Pay Your Way!”

And “Pay Your Way” indeed, as BDO Pay allows you to:

  • Send to another BDO account, bank, or mobile wallet in a few easy steps and have the money credited real-time.
  • Stay on top of your utilities, loans, health care payments, credit cards, and association dues wherever you may be. No need to enroll, just enter bill details and pay.
  • Pay for everything—coffee, new gadget, haircut, even your spa session—using your phone! Your purchase will be charged directly to your BDO Debit or Credit Card.

Indeed, as part of their CORE value, They has truly mastered the value of “Out-of-the-box” thinking with their 5 ways of expanding reach to the Filipino people through innovation and technology.
