Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading budget carrier, marked a major milestone with the 20th anniversary of its Hong Kong office by turning the spotlight on the very people who have helped fuel its growth—overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
In a touching celebration held on June 15, CEB paid tribute to the dedication and resilience of OFWs by awarding five individuals with the airline’s prestigious Values Awards, traditionally reserved for its employees. The awardees were selected for exemplifying the values of Integrity, Service, Trust, Courage, and the Best of Filipino Spirit—core pillars of the Cebu Pacific brand.
“OFWs have been with us from the very beginning. They’re not only our most loyal customers but also a part of the Cebu Pacific family,” said Candice Iyog, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at CEB. “This tribute is our way of thanking them for the big roles they play in our journey and our nation’s progress.”
The awards were presented during Gawad Parangal Para sa Bagong Bayani, an event hosted by the Philippine Alliance, the largest Filipino community group in Hong Kong. Held in conjunction with this year’s Migrant Workers’ Day celebration, the event was a deeply moving acknowledgment of the sacrifices and successes of the Filipino migrant community.
Each of the five honorees received a plaque of recognition and a free roundtrip international flight courtesy of Cebu Pacific, underscoring the airline’s enduring connection to the Filipino diaspora.
“Being recognized for our efforts gives us a deep sense of pride,” said Dante Berido, Chairman of the Philippine Alliance. “It means a lot to be seen, valued, and celebrated—not just as workers, but as people who make a difference.”
Beyond the awards, Cebu Pacific continues to reinforce its long-term commitment to OFWs through strategic initiatives. One such project is the upcoming OFW Processing Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), aimed at easing the travel process for returning migrant workers.
The airline is also collaborating with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and various NGOs to offer expanded support systems and job reintegration programs.
In line with this mission, CEB recently launched Juan Flight Closer to Home, a campaign that offers overseas Filipinos roles in aviation engineering, complete with relocation assistance—enabling skilled professionals to bring their talent home.
Now operating across 37 domestic and 26 international destinations, Cebu Pacific continues to be a trusted link between Filipino families and opportunities abroad. With this milestone celebration, the airline reaffirms that its success is deeply rooted in the journeys and dreams of every OFW it serves.
