Anime fans have something big to look forward to in 2026. TOHO has officially confirmed the production of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2, reigniting excitement for the darker, grittier spinoff of the beloved My Hero Academia universe.
Adapted from the manga created by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, with original concept work from My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi, Vigilantes explores the untold stories of underground heroes operating without official hero licenses.
The first season impressed both fans and critics with its more grounded take on heroism, brought to life under the direction of Kenichi Suzuki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders) and scriptwriter Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia). Season 2 is expected to retain much of the original creative team, including studio Bones on animation, Takahiko Yoshida on character design, Yukihiro Watanabe on art direction, and Yuki Hayashi scoring the series.
While TOHO has yet to unveil exact plot details, fans can expect the new season to pick up where the first left off—further unraveling the complex lives of vigilantes who fight for justice from the shadows.
Global anime streaming giant Crunchyroll has acquired the rights to stream the second season outside of Asia, making it accessible to a wide international audience upon release.
With its high-stakes narrative and compelling characters, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 2 is already poised to be one of the most anticipated anime events of 2026.
