Philippine Airlines (PAL) has officially launched its new direct flight route between Manila and Da Nang, Vietnam, further strengthening travel ties between the two Southeast Asian nations. Flight PR 585 took off from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at 11:10 AM, marking the start of PAL’s thrice-weekly service to Central Vietnam’s coastal gem.
The inaugural send-off ceremony was attended by local officials and aviation stakeholders, celebrating a milestone in Philippine-Vietnam relations and tourism.
“We at Philippine Airlines are proud to celebrate our inaugural service linking Manila and Da Nang,” said PAL President Richard Nuttall. “This addition brings the number of PAL destinations in Vietnam to three—more than in any other ASEAN country—highlighting the deepening bond between our nations.”
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Lai Thai Binh, emphasized the deeper significance of this route, calling it “a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams,” especially as both nations prepare to mark the 10th anniversary of their Strategic Partnership in 2025 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2026.
The Department of Tourism also welcomed the move, with Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano noting that “this direct connection responds to the growing demand for accessible and enriching tourism experiences,” as more Filipinos explore Vietnam and vice versa.
Known for its stunning beaches, vibrant food scene, and proximity to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Da Nang is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Filipino travelers. The new route is expected to boost tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The new Manila-Da Nang service is initially offered three times a week—every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday—with plans to expand to four weekly flights by November 2025. PAL will utilize its Airbus A321 aircraft, providing both Business and Economy Class options for up to 199 passengers.
