SM Foundation, the social good arm of the SM Group, welcomed 900 new college students into its scholarship program this year.
Following the main awarding ceremony at SMX Convention Center on July 20, regional ceremonies were held nationwide to honor scholars in their own communities. On August 12, 2025, SM City Tarlac hosted the awarding for scholars from Tarlac Province, joined by their families and peers.
The SM Foundation college scholarship covers full tuition, monthly allowances, and access to academic and professional development activities. Scholars benefit from assemblies, part-time work during school breaks, on-the-job training, and possible employment within the SM Group after graduation.
SM Foundation Executive Director for Education Programs Carmen Linda Atayde told scholars that the scholarship is both recognition and support for their hard work. She stressed that the award is a vote of confidence in their abilities, direction, and grit.
Launched in 1993 by SM Group Founder Henry Sy Sr., the SM Foundation college scholarship has supported over 6,000 students nationwide, aiming to make education more accessible and produce graduates who can uplift their families and give back to their communities.
