NLEX Corporation is driving change—literally and figuratively—through its BiyaHero Road Safety Caravan, which celebrated its fourth year from July 3 to 5, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City, in partnership with the Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show.
What started as a road safety initiative has grown into a movement—aimed at educating and empowering drivers, transport operators, and industry leaders to help prevent road crashes and promote responsible driving habits.
“The BiyaHero Road Safety Caravan is more than an annual event—it’s a commitment to saving lives,” shared Luis S. Reñon, Officer-In-Charge of NLEX Corporation. “Through education, collaboration, and innovation, we hope to shape safer driving habits and help our partners become true champions of road safety.”
This year’s caravan tackled a range of topics through a powerhouse lineup of industry experts and government partners. DOTr Director IV Joshua Joseph R. Rodriguez emphasized safe cargo handling and loading, while LTO Acting Assistant Secretary Greg Pua Jr. discussed traffic enforcement and understanding violations.
Experts from the private sector also lent their voices: Edward Tan, Shell’s High-Risk Transport Road Safety Advisor, and Dawny Rubillo, Senior Safety Officer of AC-1 Transport & Equipment, Inc., explored journey risk assessments and proactive safety protocols.
NLEX Corporation’s own safety experts—including Assistant Manager for Environment, Health, and Safety Dave Bautista, and NLEX Patrol Team’s Eric Cruz and Maike Lacson—guided participants through tollway regulations, emergency response techniques, and the importance of maintaining a “safety-first” mindset.
But BiyaHero isn’t just about sitting through lectures—it’s about learning by doing. Participants were immersed in interactive simulations like driving tests with drunk goggles and safety-enhanced driving simulators, allowing them to understand the real dangers of impaired or distracted driving.
As road incidents continue to be a concern across the country, BiyaHero’s fourth edition shows how sustained, strategic action can make a difference. By creating a platform that combines expertise, technology, and public engagement, NLEX Corporation is strengthening its mission: to create a culture where every Filipino driver is informed, prepared, and safe on the road.
NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
