Airbnb is expanding its horizons beyond home rentals with the launch of a major redesign of its app. The update introduces Airbnb Services, a new feature that allows users to book vacation essentials like personal chefs, trainers, massage therapists, and stylists—even without booking a place to stay.
The new offering builds on the company’s existing Airbnb Experiences by adding 10 service categories. From spa treatments to catering, each provider is carefully vetted for expertise and reputation. According to Airbnb, most providers have an average of 10 years’ experience and must undergo a strict identity verification and certification process.
What’s more, the pricing is accessible, with some services starting under $50. This positions Airbnb as more than just a travel platform—it’s becoming a lifestyle companion. The update also enhances Airbnb’s user interface, adding a new Explore tab for destination recommendations, a Trips tab for itinerary planning, and a refreshed messaging system that includes photo and video sharing.
For hosts, Airbnb has redesigned the reservations management tools, offering a new calendar with daily and hourly views and improved listing controls. Airbnb is also calling on new service providers and experience hosts to apply, potentially creating more local job opportunities.
By bundling accommodations with customizable lifestyle and leisure services, Airbnb’s latest update redefines how users plan and enjoy their vacations—or even their staycations.
