LG Sets Bold 2030 Vision to Lead the Global HVAC Market

In a decisive move toward B2B innovation, LG Electronics (LG) has laid out an ambitious roadmap to position its Electronics Solutions (ES) Company as a top-tier global HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) solutions provider by 2030. Anchored by its “3B strategy” – Build, Borrow, Buy, the company targets KRW 20 trillion in HVAC revenue, focusing on AI-powered industrial cooling and region-specific solutions for emerging and mature markets.

Industrial Cooling for the AI Era

As AI data centers surge in demand globally, so does the need for high-performance, energy-efficient cooling systems. LG is seizing the moment with a goal to generate KRW 1 trillion (USD 720 million) in chiller sales by 2026, tapping into a projected USD 12 billion global chiller market.

From liquid cooling systems with direct-to-chip technology to chiller-based air solutions and DC power-compatible HVAC systems, LG’s innovations are set to redefine the future of data infrastructure. Orders for LG’s HVAC solutions are expected to triple by 2025, signaling strong market traction.

At the heart of this evolution is the new AI Data Center HVAC Solution Lab at LG’s Pyeongtaek plant. The lab recreates real-world AI server environments to test and refine next-gen cooling technologies. LG is already conducting pilot tests with LG U+, using liquid cooling systems to simulate complex workloads.

Growth Through Build, Borrow, and Buy

LG’s transformation is powered by its 3B growth model:

  • Build: Investing in in-house expertise through the Air Solution Lab and HVAC Academy
  • Borrow: Collaborating with universities and R&D centers for next-gen innovation
  • Buy: Acquiring companies to expand capabilities and product lines

A key milestone was the acquisition of OSO from Norway, a leader in water heating, reinforcing LG’s expansion in Europe’s HVAC market.

Regional Solutions and Smart Energy Platforms

From Southeast Asia to the Middle East, LG is customizing HVAC systems to suit regional climates and mega-infrastructure demands. Highlights include:

  • Installation of Multi V i™ systems at a logistics hub in Tuas, Singapore
  • Delivery of 28,000 RT of chillers to The Avenues-Riyadh, a massive mixed-use project in Saudi Arabia

Beyond hardware, LG is doubling down on smart digital services. The BECON AI energy platform and an upcoming digital twin system—which simulates heat behavior in data centers—are key to this pivot. The company aims to grow its non-hardware revenue share from 10% to 20% by 2030.

Empowering the Global South and Future Talent

To ensure long-term sustainability and market relevance, LG is investing in local ecosystems, particularly in the Global South. In India, LG will:

  • Launch a new product development team
  • Open a high-capacity production line in Sri City by 2026, capable of producing 1.5 million units annually

Meanwhile, the HVAC Academy Network, now present in 65 locations across 43 countries, is expanding to 70 by end-2025, equipping engineers, sales professionals, and technicians with future-ready skills.

“HVAC demand is rising in tandem with the growing number of data centers being built worldwide,”
said James Lee, President of LG ES Company.
“Leveraging decades of experience and core technological excellence, LG is committed to becoming a leading HVAC solution provider in the AI era.”

LG’s transformation is more than a technological shift—it’s a global commitment to smarter, greener, and more connected HVAC solutions that power homes, cities, and the future of data.
