As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes an integral part of everyday life, a bold initiative from the AMA Education System is ensuring that Filipino learners won’t just keep pace—they’ll lead. Celebrating its 45th year as the country’s trailblazer in IT education, AMA has launched AMA 2.0, a transformative program that integrates AI into every level of learning, from elementary to higher education.
This initiative marks AMA as the first school system in the Philippines to embed AI across its entire curriculum, laying the groundwork for a new generation of Filipino tech innovators, critical thinkers, and ethical digital citizens.
AI Begins in Grade 1: Building a Strong Foundation
At AMA, the future starts early. With AI woven into the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) subject as early as Grade 1, young learners are introduced to AI concepts in a fun, age-appropriate, and ethical way. Children learn to use smart tools and understand how AI works in the world around them.
“By starting early, we take away the mystery and fear surrounding AI,” explained Dr. Amos, AMA’s Vice President for Academic Affairs. “We want our students to see AI as a creative ally.”
Senior High School: Preparing Problem Solvers
In Senior High School, particularly in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, students explore AI’s real-world applications. From automating workflows to generating creative content, students learn not just how to use AI—but how to think critically about it. They are encouraged to analyze outcomes, identify bias, and consider ethical implications, shaping them into responsible tech users and developers.
A First in the Philippines: BS in Artificial Intelligence
At the college level, AMA continues its legacy of innovation with the country’s first-ever Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (BS AI). This groundbreaking program dives deep into:
- Machine learning and neural networks
- Large language model (LLM) development
- Natural language processing
- Cloud-based deployment using platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure
- Responsible AI governance
Students pursuing degrees in BS Computer Science (BSCS) and BS Information Technology (BSIT) can also specialize in AI, giving them the skills to thrive in a globally competitive tech environment. The curriculum is aligned with prestigious certifications like Google TensorFlow Developer and AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty, providing graduates with a significant edge.
ODeL: Flexible AI Learning for All
Through its Open Distance Education Learning (ODeL) program, AMA extends AI education to students across the Philippines, including remote and underserved communities. This flexible approach allows students to earn full degrees in BSIT or BSCS—with AI specializations—while balancing work, family, or other responsibilities.
Supported by AMA’s nationwide Education Support and Admission Centers, the ODeL program ensures that geographic or economic barriers don’t stand in the way of a quality tech education.
A Vision for the Nation’s Future
“At AMA, we believe no Filipino should be left behind in the AI revolution,” said Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V, AMA’s Chairman and Founder. “We are not just teaching our students how to use technology—we are preparing them to lead, to innovate, and to shape the digital world of tomorrow.”
With AI reshaping sectors from healthcare to finance, AMA’s proactive approach ensures that Filipino learners are prepared not only to adapt—but to define the future.
